The Best Season to Visit Atlantic City

Ask ten different guests when the "best" time to visit Atlantic City is, and you'll get ten different answers depending on what brought them here in the first place. Summer brings the warmest ocean water and the busiest Boardwalk. Winter brings the quietest gaming floor and the lowest room rates. Most years, the real sweet spot sits in the gap between the two.

Spring (March – May)

Spring is when the Boardwalk starts to wake back up after winter. Ocean temperatures are still too cool for a long swim in March, but by late April the rooftop pool deck is comfortable and the crowds haven't caught up to summer levels yet. Room rates during this stretch tend to sit well below peak summer pricing, making spring a strong pick for guests who want mild weather without the July price tag.

Summer (June – August)

Summer is peak season on the Boardwalk, and for good reason — the ocean is warm, the rooftop pool deck runs at full capacity, and the event calendar fills up with concerts and boardwalk festivals. The tradeoff is exactly what you'd expect: higher rates, busier dining rooms, and cabanas that book out days in advance on weekends. If a summer trip is non-negotiable, booking your room and any cabana rental at least three to four weeks out is worth doing.

Fall (September – November)

Fall is arguably the most underrated stretch of the year here. Ocean temperatures stay swimmable well into September, the Boardwalk is noticeably quieter than August, and rates start easing back down after Labor Day. Early fall does carry some hurricane-season risk worth keeping an eye on if you're booking that far out, but October is consistently mild and pleasant.

Late September through mid-October is when our own staff tends to book personal trips along this stretch of the shore — the weather still cooperates and everything is quieter.

Winter (December – February)

Winter brings the lowest room rates of the year and a noticeably slower pace around the resort. The rooftop pool deck closes for the season, but the indoor pool, spa, dining rooms, and gaming floor run at full operation year-round, which makes winter a good fit for guests more interested in the spa and casino side of the resort than the ocean itself.
